Brady's Delayed Birth Certificate gives him as born in Alum Creek; however, in the compiled list showing his marriage to Violet U. Adkins (both divorced) gives him as born in nearby Kanawha County.

Sadie (daughter of Charles Henry Turley and Mamie Belle Childress) was born on 4 Aug 1901 in Alum Creek, Kanawha Co, WV; died on 3 Aug 1994 in South Charleston, Kanawha Co, WV; was buried in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, Kanawha Co, WV. Brady married Violet Undine Miller on 16 May 1946 in Kanawha Co, WV. Violet (daughter of Wilburn Greenville Miller and Martha Ann Pauley) was born on 20 Oct 1916 in Boone Co, WV; died on 2 Sep 1991. [Group Sheet]

Although Bessie's death certificate says her father is Thos. A. Pruett, her marriage to Charles U. Penwell at age 16 shows her as a Turley. Since her gravestone gives her birthdate as 29 Mar 1897 and her mother's marriage to Thomas Pruett as 16 Sep 1899, she had little time to know her father. Note that her mother might have left Dempsey or Dempsey Turley might have died earlier than 1899. It makes sense that Bessie would use the name of the father she grew up with and perhaps was adopted by, Thomas Pruett.
